In the 2017 Budget, the Chancellor announced measures to remove some of the benefits associated with salary sacrifice.
Transitional rules were put in place for the first year. As we approach the period where most schemes will, or already have, renewed their benefits, we consider the impact of these new rules.
The rules impact on both employment tax and employee benefits. Many benefits platforms were built on dated technology which may require additional work-arounds and interventions to accommodate Optional Remuneration Arrangements (OpRA).
To further discuss these changes, BDO, employment tax specialists, are hosting joint seminars and webinars with PIB Employee Benefits who are independent specialists in employee benefits and online technology platforms.
These events will cover:
- What you currently can and cannot do with OpRA
- A practical walk through of the various scenarios we have seen, including Cars, AMAP Schemes and Group Income Protection and other benefits
- How the new rules will impact the preparation of your P11D’s for 2017/18
- Understanding whether your benefits platform can accommodate the changes
- The need to review your flex benefits package and cash in lieu options
- Effective methods to communicate these changes.
